About Pay with Rewards

1. If you choose to redeem points you will receive a statement credit to your card. * Connecting your card to the Pay with Rewards app is simple: enter your Pay with Rewards-enabled Mastercard card number and establish a four digit app PIN.

2. If you have questions or are not able to proceed, please contact the issuer of your card. * The home screen will show your points balance, the cash equivalent of your points balance, and your current Pay with Rewards setting.

3. This app allows you to connect a Mastercard card and configure when and where your points will be redeemed.

4. Pay with Rewards allows you to spend your points like cash at millions of participating locations worldwide.

5. Mastercard Pay with Rewards is only available on certain Mastercard cards.

6. Please check with your issuer of your card for availability.

7. When using your card, your payment is processed as normal.

8. The PIN will be used by the app to protect your personal settings and information. * Answer the security questions.

9. Your questions are based on information your financial institution has on file.

1. Contacting Lisa on the email supplied is pointless tbough, as she doesn't respond! As of March 2023 App no longer works! Same old story !Something went wrong message!!! and endless loading !! Useless app and waste of my points, I can't redeem it 😔Possibly the worst app I have ever used.

Then once you're in there is a completely arbitrary system of having to select a specific purchase against which to redeem your points instead of crediting to your statement.The last version of the app is worse than the previous one because on a phone with a small screen the description of the purchase made is overlapping the amount paid, making both impossible to read.

3. I got tricked by my bank to use this with my card, if I had knew before hand that I had to use this horrible app, I would have never got the card in the first place.When about to login with SMS for the first time I get: "Something has gone wrong.

4. But still having this error which prevents me to login.Horrible. App has decided to stop working giving me an error message "something has gone wrong".

5. Tried deleting and installing again but after putting in my card number it seems to not recognize it and gives me the same error message again.. So now im completely unable to get back on the app.

6. And no matter what I try, everytime I try to add my card I get a "sorry something went wrong" error, with no further explanation.

7. Can you please investigate and fix this? I can see the card recognises my account as the final digits of the phone number match with mine.

8. I could use the app only in portrait mode because it doesn't rotate the screen when I put my screen in landscape mode, so at this point there isn't any fix for the issue described above.The worst app I've ever used.

9. In retrospect, getting the HSBC Rewards credit card was a mistake.There's nowhere in the app where you can ask for help with an issue.

10. Now all of my points have disappeared, and the promotions tab is completely empty! Very disappointed with the experience so far.Absolute trash-tier user experience.

11. Every single time I open the app (which is very infrequently thankfully) I have to start from scratch because apparently it's a lot to ask for your profile and settings to be saved.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Pay with Rewards Issues

1. Fix Pay with Rewards Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Pay with Rewards: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Pay with Rewards App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Pay with Rewards" » Open Pay with Rewards » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Pay with Rewards » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Pay with Rewards app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Pay with Rewards servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Pay with Rewards" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Pay with Rewards app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Pay with Rewards might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Pay with Rewards. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Pay with Rewards then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Pay with Rewards not working


2. Fix Pay with Rewards Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Pay with Rewards be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Pay with Rewards not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Pay with Rewards may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
