I can't find the words to properly convey how strange this is, how helpless I feel when I have an account issue, or how obtuse the government is for still using Direct Express.This had been a wonderful card, easy to use, accurate...my only problem was I kept getting hacked! And when I'd get a replacement card, they soon hacked that one too! I got some sales reversed, but mostly the amounts were taken out of my account.

Since the latest update every time I go to sign in I am redirected to the play store via a pop up message saying that I need to install the new version, I have been redirected to the play store over twenty times now, but I can't figure out why!(?) The first time was earlier this month and was able to install a update, but every time since the play store shows the regular screen you would see if you wanted to uninstall a app or the option to open!This app is for depositing social security benefits only.

It would be cool if we could attach our receipts and even leave notes for each item, & a place for us to be able to contact customer service rep thru the app and also be able to dispute an item thru the app?It would be nice if I could control what was paid, I had many many scams that were paid without the verification process I have to go thru just to get in my own apps! This needs to be changed.

4. So I ended still having to call 4 times and waited two weeks for the mail form and had to send it back to dispute a matter that " paypal Amazon or ebay" would have cleared in 3 days.Direct express is the way to go if you don't want to deal with a bank.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Direct Express Issues

1. Fix Direct Express Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Direct Express: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Direct Express App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Direct Express" » Open Direct Express® » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Direct Express » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Direct Express® app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Direct Express servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Direct Express®" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Direct Express app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Direct Express might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Direct Express. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Direct Express then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Direct Express not working


2. Fix Direct Express Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Direct Express be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Direct Express not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Direct Express may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
