MBNA Customer Insights

1. What a faff to pay the card via card payment, can't even make payment within the app, this process could be way easier, I don't really want to add my bank account details to the app, jumping back and forth between the app and website to make a payment, could be way easier.Frustratingly bad, always have technical issues, can't retrieve a statement or do basic actions with the app, I can only see my statement before it gives me error messages - very frustrating.Handy for making payments to pay off Credit Card.

2. Also lots of options to disable certain types of purchase and you can force it to ask for pin for card payments too if you to stop tap and pay on your card.Irritating - every time I update the app it forgets all my log in details & I have to rejoin/reregister - really annoying.

3. In fact I can't be bothered now, that's the problem with all these mobile banking apps, if you want to do anything more than pay you need to find a computer.Unable to download any statements.

4. I set biometric details so I don't have to remember my sign in details, but updating the app resets everything.Another update and still no pdf of credit card statement.

5. Perhaps paper posted statements are a better idea? A month later and still pdf statement option does not work.

6. Will likely not bothered once my balanced is cleared.It's okay but I've just wasted about 30 minutes looking for a way to increase my direct debit payment but don't seem able to.

7. Perhaps paper statements and royal mail are the way forward?Useless, cannot download statements.

8. In it's slower than other banking apps, and I'm often left wondering if it's crashed while waiting for payments to authenticate (car parks for example).

9. Android 12 user.Cannot download the latest statement.

10. PATHETIC! Can't download a PDF statement of current or past months.

11. Only ever able to download the previous months without receiving an error.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix MBNA Issues

1. Fix MBNA Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart MBNA: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the MBNA App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "MBNA" » Open MBNA Mobile App » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for MBNA » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear MBNA Mobile App app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from MBNA servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "MBNA Mobile App" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check MBNA app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, MBNA might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall MBNA. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall MBNA then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing MBNA not working


2. Fix MBNA Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make MBNA be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to MBNA not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, MBNA may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
