Square Point of Sale Customer Insights

1. I'm stuck with them for now while I get up & running but I'll be switching in the future & strongly recomend avoiding square products altogether.Review updated on May 16,2023: After the new updated, the app back to the way used to be always connected, it's SUPER GOOD! so I can use the app to charge the credit without any second waiting.

2. The new updated on March 31,2023 it's not good, made the chip reader connection with the Samsung phone need to makes a new connecting every time.

3. But before that, the Chip reader it's always connected, even though that may draining battery power , but it's worth it.Unfortunately, the NFC card payment Function doesn't work.

4. the app decided to update the card reader, it got stuck at 38%, it sat that way for nearly 20 mins, I left to go do things, the screen timed out now it won't pair with the card reader.

5. When they change the interface to a different look last year I believe, the app gets hung and reader won't stay connected.

6. It disconnects the square touchless chip reader.

7. It never took that long to do a card payment...ridiculous! With their rates being some of the highest in the industry and now a complete inconvenience to use, I will be going elsewhere.I have a show TOMORROW, and got out my equipment so I can take sales.

8. Square on the other hand, implements a 20 step process, and it's not available for ALL types of products.

9. Had a square reader since the app was launched.

10. The app and hardware worked great two years ago when I first started using Square POS.

11. Gives me an error stating that the reader is disconnected... Not sure how that is, when the reader is my own phone.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Square Point of Sale Issues

1. Fix Square Point of Sale Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Square Point of Sale: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Square Point of Sale App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Square Point of Sale" » Open Square Point of Sale: Payment » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Square Point of Sale » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Square Point of Sale: Payment app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Square Point of Sale servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Square Point of Sale: Payment" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Square Point of Sale app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Square Point of Sale might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Square Point of Sale. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Square Point of Sale then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Square Point of Sale not working


2. Fix Square Point of Sale Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Square Point of Sale be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Square Point of Sale not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Square Point of Sale may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
