Smart Connect Customer Insights

1. Used to also use it for headphones when commuting so I could just plug them in for automatic music.Loved this app, used it multiple times every day up until recent update, they got rid of play track option! I had this open Spotify, set volume and play when the phone connected to car or Bluetooth stereo.

2. At april 2021, the apps even cannot switch on/off wifi automatically after latest update.Functionality reduced on Xperia 1 ii as compared to the older Xperia Z3+ (less triggers and actions).

3. I want to be able to stipulate the in-call volume when the driving event starts - as well as media volume (navigation directions) and bluetooth music volume.

4. The issue is my Bluetooth in my car stays connected for like 15 minutes and every time I get close to it, my phone plays from the Bluetooth in my car rather than my phone speaker.Can't make a profile for my Kenwood car radio.

5. Now it doesn't do that so have to manually open phone and press play, really annoying when in a rush! Might as well open Spotify myself as well.

6. Doesn't allow to select a specific Bluetooth device from the list of paired devices.

7. Needs a serious update or a whole new smart connect to keep up with the times.Was a powerful apps.

8. Still works perfectly fine tho :)Update: doesn't seem to work anymore unless i open the app after the action that prompts the event.

9. Also notification saying smart connect active won't go away when it isn't doing anything since recent update.

10. I'd plug my headphones in, it would start the Music app adjust the volume, and play songs.

11. I would also like the option to close the app when the event ends (so that when i leave my vehicle, and go indoors, google isn't telling me "GPS signal lost" or "turn around when possible" from my pocket).Used to be a fantastic app but now it has many flaws.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Smart Connect Issues

1. Fix Smart Connect Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Smart Connect: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Smart Connect App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Smart Connect" » Open Smart Connect » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Smart Connect » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Smart Connect app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Smart Connect servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Smart Connect" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Smart Connect app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Smart Connect might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Smart Connect. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Smart Connect then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Smart Connect not working


2. Fix Smart Connect Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Smart Connect be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Smart Connect not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Smart Connect may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
