1. If I'm in a more remote area, like hiking in the mountains or in areas where there are is no cell phone service or WIFI hot spots, will the GPS app still work for me? If so, are there any special changes I need to make on the settings to allow it to work outside of a cell phone service area? Thank you for any replies.Very good, no frills app to track your walk.
2. But it does just turn itself off at random points so nothing is really accurate because big chunks of your walk are missed off and the data gets split into three or four separate walks that you'd need to add up....which feels pointless since chunks are missing anyway.
3. Over the past two years I have loved it's simplicity and accuracy in recording my time, distance and route walked, but recently it's become very inaccurate recording 0.02 km in 28 min, despite reinstalling it a few times and changing settings it's just not keeping track.
4. First major issue is that distance is totally inaccurate Have use the app 3times on different routes and each time the distance is about 50% on the low side (verified against GPS watch and fitbit) Second issue is that the map route overview is also inaccurate in that it shows the route travelled as anything up to half a mile out.
5. However, since what I think must have been an update or something it's been totally doolally! On several occasions it's recorded that I've walked at least twice as far as I have (with steps and calories therefore also vastly incorrect), and the map page shows that I've suddenly done weird "offshoots" instead of the route I know I've done! Why?????? - OK.
6. I would recommend the Simply Walking app to others, it appears to record accurate mileage and tracking on the map when all the settings on the phone are correct for the app.
7. It's a basic, limited app but what it does do, it does very well indeed.I've had it on my Xperia/Oreo8 for a month now and it has worked faultlessly for my short daily walks of a couple of miles or so.
8. Keep or delete? UnsureI've been using this app for some time and it's great for logging where I've walked or cycled.
9. Exporting appears to work OK, but the GPX files are always slightly corrupted (a random chunk of file is repeated at the end of every track); plus the "&" in the header isn't escaped as "&".
10. The ads are small and unobtrusive.Neat & simple, but with some significant technical problems & a couple of irritating UX issues.
11. Now the export gpx is working, I can export any route to OS Maps where I keep all my walks.
