Whistle Customer Insights

1. Just kept getting a pop up notification that says "something went wrong with whistle try updating app after its developer provides a fix for this error." Had to uninstall and reinstall.I like the stats and display but ever since the update, I'm logged out of the app every time I close it, which means I don't get notifications and that's a huge problem if my dog were to ever run out.

2. Have been a longtime customer but starting to get frustrated as the GPS tracking (which is the most important aspect of Whistle too me) does not seem to be the focus of tracker improvements.

3. Would love it if Whistle went back to their roots of Tagg and focus more on tracking and finding dogs location, especially for people that live in rural areas.

4. The device stopped recognizing a new 100% charged battery after less than 6 months, and the support team did nothing to resolve the problem, beyond asking for a photo of the battery charged to 100%.

5. They should have just combined the best of the original and new software.the app is so easy to use and customer service is awesome!! I live in the country so there's times I can't track him, just spins..but I haven't contacted support to see if it can be fixed.

6. Not worth the price for the device, and it won't be able to help you find your pet in the event they are lost.I've had the tracker for about a month now and I think this is a really great product with a good execution.

7. I have had a few issues with it locating when I go into the find my dog mode, this happens just a minute or 2 after I get a notification telling me his location because he left his safe zone.

8. It does take a longer than i like for it to recognize my dog left her safe zone as well as having to wait for activity to sync before the flashlight will work.

9. Also refreshing the location always throws and error the first time, have to close the app and log back in to see it.New update on 2/15 broke the app.

10. This app and this product use to be so so good, I recommended it to all my friends, the battery would last weeks and the app would sync without issues.

11. Now the battery lasts 2, maybe 3 days if I'm lucky, the syncing process is wobbly at best and bugs introduced on new updates are not rare.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Whistle Issues

1. Fix Whistle Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Whistle: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Whistle App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Whistle" » Open Whistle: Smart Pet Tracker » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Whistle » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Whistle: Smart Pet Tracker app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Whistle servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Whistle: Smart Pet Tracker" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Whistle app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Whistle might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Whistle. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Whistle then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Whistle not working


2. Fix Whistle Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Whistle be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Whistle not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Whistle may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
