NETGEAR Insight Customer Insights

1. Previous version of the app was very nice and useful.Netgear is disallowing me from using their equipment because I elect to have a rooted device, which in absolutely zero capacity affects usage or security of Netgear devices.

2. No more products for me or my company.If your trying this as a Meraki alternative (for switches), I will be polite: Netgear has given themselves many opportunities for improvement/growth, when comparing to the competition (managing network switches, since that's all I currently is it for).

3. Netgear look to companies like Ruckus and their mobile apps that provide viable tools for IT pros!Horrible went from Google mesh, which was fine just want to have a little less dropped connections.

4. 3 new GS752TPS switches; figured app may be a useful for initial deployment prep...it's NOT! Discovery is ridiculously slow (20+ sec); refresh forced with EVERY navigation action; will hang requiring force close.

5. At least the switch does what its supposed to, but i cant manage it which was why i bought the version I didCurrent version is completely useless.

6. I'm sure people in places when slow internet, or are on metered plans might not appreciate this at all.I need this app to allow me to manage my switch.

7. Tried to change switch IP, but it didn't work -- just made the switch unrecognizable to the app AND my network (can't even ping it now).

8. 500.00 versus 200.00. Netgear being most expensive and worse overall performance and app wow shows I have no satellites then I click on it and show 2 simple bugs like that are rediculiousUseless, i cant use this app for anything.

9. Cant access the browser UI for the switch, it doesnt find things on the network this was absolutely pointless.

10. Thankfully I am typically somewhere with excellent data speeds so this usually takes less than a minute, however it would have been far more convenient to be able to say no to the update, check what I needed to check, and then update the app.

11. What's the point in using the web interface on my phone since I have to zoom in to view? It only takes a bit of coding to load it into the app for doing your configuration.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix NETGEAR Insight Issues

1. Fix NETGEAR Insight Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart NETGEAR Insight: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the NETGEAR Insight App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "NETGEAR Insight" » Open NETGEAR Insight » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for NETGEAR Insight » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear NETGEAR Insight app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from NETGEAR Insight servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "NETGEAR Insight" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check NETGEAR Insight app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, NETGEAR Insight might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall NETGEAR Insight. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall NETGEAR Insight then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing NETGEAR Insight not working


2. Fix NETGEAR Insight Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make NETGEAR Insight be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to NETGEAR Insight not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, NETGEAR Insight may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
