3M Customer Insights

1. No firmware update feature for the new XPI Alert headsets, you have to send them in to get it updated, this is also a none thought through decision, i do hope the hardware does support update over BT and that it will be enabled in the feature, but considering the update rate on the app I guess it won't happen.Looks like the older 3m Peltors won't connect to the app even if they are connected to my phone.

2. Phone only says can't connect so no calls no music no nothing..Total waste of time, cannot connect to XPI headset, which works perfectly with Bluetooth anyway, why bother with this app, deleted.Only appears to support a couple of models of ear defender from the Peltor range.

3. I have an Google Pixel 3, and I can use the headphones with my phone just fine normally except for people can't hear me, but this app won't connect to it.Does what it should, do however note that it will only support the new version of the XPI Alert headsets that have been given the same name as the old one, not a good decision by 3m.

4. Connection needs to be above average for usage.Ive paired the g5-01 welding mask up to my phone but now when i go in to the app it just keeps saying connecting but wont connect again iv tried delating the app but still the same problem.

5. Not really the most though out design.When I have the app installed I can't connect my headset to my phone it says connected in the app and I can do settings in the app but that's it.

6. Was surprised to find that the WS Protac XPI isn't listed.I have the speedglas G5-01it works great, but the Bluetooth has problem connecting all the time.

7. Purchased an set of Peltor XPI and I was getting complaints about other people could barely hear me during phone calls.

8. Figured I would update the SW as a start on the headphones, installed the 3M app but I won't connect.

9. So if you can help me how to fix it or if it's a app problem.Useless. The app can't find the device even if it's already paired.

10. Tried all solutions given on the 'No Equipment Found' page to no avail.

11. Don't brother downloading.Terrible to use.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix 3M Issues

1. Fix 3M Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart 3M: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the 3M App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "3M" » Open 3M™ Connected Equipment » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for 3M » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear 3M™ Connected Equipment app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from 3M servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "3M™ Connected Equipment" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check 3M app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, 3M might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall 3M. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall 3M then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing 3M not working


2. Fix 3M Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make 3M be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to 3M not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, 3M may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
