1. The one part I do like is you can type in your filter size so if you get to the store and forget the dimensions it makes it very easy to find.Brought the smart filters, downloaded the app, then discovered i had to purchase a separate device to monitor indoor air quality.

2. However, when it came time to replace the filters, I was only able to get a regular filter.

3. Also, we should at least be able to see a 24 month history of filter changes so that we can see the trends(year to year).I tried setting up the filter change reminder inside the app.

4. I've replaced mine every 120 or more for 30 years without issue.I liked being able to monitor our home's air quality and filter life.

5. Therefore, I will be deleting the app from my phone as well as my account and shall resume writing manual monthly reminders on my calendar to check the filters.I would like an improvement on the Bluetooth synch.

6. I am happy to use the full benefit of installing a sensor for detecting filter quality and not default to 90 days.

7. Most of the time the filter I use or want is not available, so we need to be able to add a filter and size.

8. I'm paying nearly double to know when to replace based on filter capacity as opposed to time.

9. So, no way of integrating my smart filters and app with a device that measures the indoor air quality.

10. Manually tracking when to change the filter never worked for me, making so it got changed long after it should have.

11. Today though when I changed my filter I tried to scan the barcode it wouldn't work.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Filtrete Issues

1. Fix Filtrete Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Filtrete: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Filtrete App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Filtrete" » Open Filtrete™ Smart » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Filtrete » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Filtrete™ Smart app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Filtrete servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Filtrete™ Smart" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Filtrete app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Filtrete might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Filtrete. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Filtrete then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Filtrete not working


2. Fix Filtrete Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Filtrete be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Filtrete not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Filtrete may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
