1. Took me 2 minutes to enter passport and travel information in the app and then went through the (extremely) short passport control line for mobile app users.
2. When I have a connecting flight, instead of stressing out on a line for thirty minutes or more, I literally swan past the hundreds of people waiting for the kiosks and go directly to a customs agent, who scans the bar code and I'm out! It's been a life saver at big international airports like JFK, EWR, MIA, and FLL.Rarely you see the government try to be efficient and provide tools to help citizens, for free.
3. The app itself is great.I had the app on my phone but hadn't set anything up, but I did so in a couple minutes after I landed and I went straight through the checkpoint while everyone else was waiting in line! The only part I had trouble with was figuring out how to scan my passport.
4. I did zip through the passport check in a matter of less than 10 minute, but than was waiting for my luggage for 45 minutes with everyone else so overall I left the airport at the same time as everyone else that didn't use the app, but that's a different problem.
5. Can no longer scan passport, and must enter data within 4 hours of passing through customs.
6. After retrieving our luggage, Customs allowed anybody and everybody to use the Mobile Passport line.
7. If the instructions had simply stated (or had a more helpful diagram) that I had to line up the blue rectangle with the two lines of computer text along the bottom of the picture page, I'd have been done in 30 secondsWorked for us at Chicago.
8. Only certain lines were designed for Mobile Passport, but the app didn't say which, and there wasn't clear signage at the airport to let me know.
9. The only minor issue I had was that the readers for the barcode was having issues and it was hard for it to read the barcode from my phone, after more than a couple of scans went through. The app was convenient and saved time returning home to Denver.
10. On the plane on the way back we deleted and recreated our profiles and passport info then the rest of it on the free version.
11. And to top it off, it took longer for me to get cleared as the agent went through the motions of scanning and checking off the boxes on his screen than it took for people with paper forms.
