1. How do I pay for my tickets in the SamTrans Mobile app? -Debit or credit (American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover) cards are accepted. -Yes, provided you have funds in your account.

2. Just download the free app, register your debit/credit card in our secure system, and we’ll get you where you need to go. - Buy and use fares instantly using a debit/credit card for a single fare or multiple fares for a group of riders.

3. Your tickets are stored on your phone (which makes it possible to use them without a cellular network or a wireless Internet connection).

4. Do I need an internet connection to buy or use tickets? -You will need an internet connection to buy and activate bus passes.

5. However, if you save the purchased tickets in your device, you will not need to have internet connection to activate them.

6. Don’t uninstall the SamTrans Mobile app or erase your phone while you have active tickets on it.

7. The official SamTrans Mobile ticketing app lets you use your phone to pay your fare on any SamTrans local or express routes.

1. Used cash instead.It shows more than just SamTrans but it shows also part of the connecting areas of the Bay Area this is better that transit app this is a great app I have ever downloaded.Easy to use and a great resource for trip planning.

2. Maybe, you could select the bus lanes number, and it would show the map of that lane with all the stops, and if you clicked another button, it could show the time table for the bus.

3. Clipper card users are charged a lower fare rate.

4. highly recommend using this app for real time bus arrival times over Google MapsI can't install on my phone, and its also not a well made app.

5. Now, I won't be using the app anymore and will definitely be riding SamTrans less being that I am now unable to check the schedule and plan my route to work or home.

6. App does not seem to have a frequent auto-refresh for the next bus, and this is on top of SamTrans drivers speeding past bus stops even if they are many minutes ahead of schedule.

7. Only get this if your not a clipper card holder, but how can you not have a clipper card at this point?They force storing credit card.

8. Apparently not.I'm sure it's useful but do not install if you already use clipper card.

9. The bonus content was fun to read as well.The bus time arrivals predictability is somewhat accurate.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix SamTrans Issues

1. Fix SamTrans Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart SamTrans: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the SamTrans App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "SamTrans" » Open SamTrans Mobile » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for SamTrans » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear SamTrans Mobile app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from SamTrans servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "SamTrans Mobile" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check SamTrans app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, SamTrans might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall SamTrans. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall SamTrans then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing SamTrans not working


2. Fix SamTrans Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make SamTrans be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to SamTrans not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, SamTrans may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
