Dext Customer Insights

1. Still no simple interfaceThis app is awesome and all... the only irritating thing is that whenever I take a photo, the centre is off... so I position my phone to take a perfect photo of the invoice, but when I review it, the side of the invoice is cut off, then I have to take a new photo that is "off centre" to compensate and get the full total payable in the image... hope it makes sense.

2. It has been doing this since the update in March.Awful: it takes hours for the app to load receipts onto your receipt bank account and sometimes receipts don't load at all, but you would never know unless you double-checked all of your expenses afterwards.

3. I scanned 9 receipts, entered (itemized and color coded) 6 receipts by hand while waiting for it to process, did a bunch of other work (over an hour) and then entered (again, itemized and color coded) the 9 I'd scanned, by hand.

4. Most importantly, please ensure that (in the next update) that the accounts are arranged in alphabetical order automatically and that I can search and process invoices from a single supplier on the app just like on the website.I tried the receipt bank app when I first signed up to receipt bank about 2 years ago and it wasnt great to be honest.

5. The app is very handy for taking photos of receipts, catagorising the spend and normally publishing the receipt to my accounting software, QB, so that I can match the bank entry with the spend.

6. Also, when you make reports, they don't organise themselves by date, which makes it confusing and lastly, you can't move receipts from one report to another? The app also makes it very hard to see reports that have already been published.Seems to work ok - I gave up before it was done.

7. I tried to configure opening PDFs on Chrome using your method but part of your method doesn't exist, ie Additional Content Settings - this does not show under the Site Settings menu.

8. But way to treat your customers - I honestly cannot recommend an app that knowingly and decidedly charge customers who clearly don't use their service.I was really happy with this app but now it won't publish my items saying that there is an integration error when nothing has changed.

9. Please revert so I can view the PDFs like I was always able to until recently.A once simple and straightforward app has been made worse by the addition of a cluttered interface.

10. Useless customer service, and non-integration with "billable expenses" settings in QBO.

11. Use HubdocCan no longer view the invoice when trying to code in dext on my phone due to some PDF configuration issue.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Dext Issues

1. Fix Dext Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Dext: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Dext App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Dext" » Open Dext: Expense tracker app » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Dext » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Dext: Expense tracker app app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Dext servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Dext: Expense tracker app" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Dext app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Dext might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Dext. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Dext then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Dext not working


2. Fix Dext Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Dext be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Dext not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Dext may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
