1. It is a complete mess and there is no word on fixing the issue from the developer.I have happily used this app for years, even paid $20 to upgrade to "premium." I haven't been able to use the app for a couple weeks now for the same reason other reviews state...app turns horizontal, doesn't show accts separately, can't add or edit transactions or even login.

2. Back to paper, I guess.Data is showing up triple now after update, no response from developer, paid for the app and have been using it for years.

3. This is so frustrating and I'm rating now because it just happened!!! I went to update some things, it had me log in, that's fine, then all my stuff is doubled and I'm showing negative balances and it gets me all up in arms trying to figure it out.

4. It's been days now, and there is no hope to reconcile my checkbook without undoing years worth of triple entries due to the lastest update.

5. One of them I'd had for years and I just opened the app and it showed that account was $20k in the hole because of this error! I just can't trust it to be accurate anymore.UPDATE, May 5, 2023.

6. Then it updated and went back to vertical, great! Latest update and it's back to horizontal and even harder to use.

7. I'm gonna give it a few more days and if I still can't use it I'm just going to delete it...in which case you're welcome for my $20 donation.Bought the Lifetime Subscription and have been using for years now.

8. 5-4-23- Uninstalled! 5-10-23: reinstalled after the update 2.0.30 and the pop-ups have been rectified at the moment.

9. Worked great until the update, which kept crashing.

10. The one on the website was wrongThe update broke the app! The app was updated on 5/7 and completed before the app.

11. *ETA* The latest update seems to have fixed the issues.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Checkbook Issues

1. Fix Checkbook Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Checkbook: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Checkbook App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Checkbook" » Open Checkbook - Account Tracker » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Checkbook » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Checkbook - Account Tracker app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Checkbook servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Checkbook - Account Tracker" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Checkbook app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Checkbook might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Checkbook. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Checkbook then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Checkbook not working


2. Fix Checkbook Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Checkbook be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Checkbook not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Checkbook may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
