Smart Switch Customer Insights

1. This was a very deceitful app and I will be looking at other ways to transfer data, in the future.DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!! Terrible app.Doesn't do anything as I still can't get my stored stuff from my old phone onto this new one.I downloaded this, after reading the reviews & thought that it would be easier than the one that is on both my old phone and this one.

2. Then when attempting to transfer data from an LG Zone 4 to a Motorola E6, the app could not find or connect to the Motorola via their wifi hotspot (even though I had my own wifi going), nor would it detect my new Motorola phone via Bluetooth.

3. P.S. ads and click bait annoyin5 stars cuz this app is a good idea BUT I just got a new Samsung Galaxy S8+ and needed all of my text messages from the old S8+ phone.

4. I got the Most Recent phone call logs, a few sounds and my text messages.

5. Click on "Create Backup" It pops a message that it is saving data to /storage/emulated/0/Smart Switch Mobile/YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.

6. I click on Send Data then select messages and call log.

7. BTW: Asus ZenFone 5, Android 10.Downloaded, backed up data (messages and contacts, which were my only options, didn't say anything about images or video data).

8. Open the app on both phones, choose which phone sends and what to send and it does it Very Fast.

9. This app created a zip file that I was able to beam to the new phone.

10. I scanned the phone from a PC and to file name as above is found.

11. Instead backup & restore kept appearing so I've no idea where my data was sent.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Smart Switch Issues

1. Fix Smart Switch Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Smart Switch: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Smart Switch App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Smart Switch" » Open Smart Switch Mobile: Transfer » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Smart Switch » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Smart Switch Mobile: Transfer app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Smart Switch servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Smart Switch Mobile: Transfer" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Smart Switch app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Smart Switch might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Smart Switch. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Smart Switch then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Smart Switch not working


2. Fix Smart Switch Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Smart Switch be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Smart Switch not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Smart Switch may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
