1. This is the official companion app for Star Adventurer mini (SAM) and Star Adventurer 2i camera mount manufactured by Sky-Watcher.
2. Use this app to program the camera mount for astrophotography and time-lapse photography.
3. It can also help a Sky-watcher equatorial mount user to do polar alignment with the polar scope.
1. Hardware that cannot be used without an app is likely to become a paperweight unless the app is continually updated and reviewed.Excellent, I already own the Star Adventurer Pro, but the odd menu structure & access is awkward if you want to make sudden changes during a session, the SAM makes it very simple & fast to change to other modes.
2. I also love the fact that I can sit back with a hot chocolate drink & still control the unit from the comfort of my chair, giving me the chance to scan the skies with binoculars while SAM does all the work....love it... One gripe i have is if I enter 20 photos it only takes 10 why???.2.1.1 is broken, Can no longer communicate with the app, when trying to run an exposure from the APP mode on the SA.
3. Took a while to realise that it had updated there was no notification it had updated with "new features" spent 30 mins trying to figure out what had happed as it was all working fine the night before.I used this and the SAM for about a month before moving to the larger Star Adventurer mount.
4. I went to the company website and found an older version of the app, it has other problems, but at least the program will run on the older version.Update to my previous 1 star review, as others said before me, you have to go to the website and download it there to your phone.
5. So if you later want to run on that dial mode without the tracker firing your camera, you have to press the direction buttons together for 5 seconds to set back to factory defaults...every time.
6. This is a great app and very useful, but it's now completely useless in a time when I need it to calibrate my Star Adventurer :( Please get an update out soon to fix the app.Does the job but could really do with an update.
7. I had no issues getting it to initially connect and operate the mount on my Galaxy S9+, though re-establishing the connection after a program is done is a little clunky if set to turn off WiFi while running.
8. Seem to ignore app questions.A stupid reminder prevents this app from running the astrophotography program when you have the option to trigger the photos selected.
9. If you then, however, turn the dial to that mode it starts the program and fires the camera.
10. If a piece of expensive hardware requires an app to run, the developers must make sure they keep the app updated or the hardware is rendered useless.
11. It will only drive camera during app mode in astrophotography, and only if you uncheck photos box(so infinity photos).
