About SynScan Pro

1. Use this app to control the AZ GTi mount or other Sky-Watcher or Orion telescope mounts fitted with a SynScan Wi-Fi adapter.

2. This is the Pro version of the SynScan app and contains features suited for expert users using equatorial mounts.

3. The SynScan hand controller is now available as an app on your smart device.

SynScan Pro Customer Insights

1. If you leave it running and your phone locks the app freezes and crashes and if your camera is in interval shooting through the app the shutter will stay open and be locked open until you turn the camera off (Sony a7riii).

2. But I really wish they would update it to run on current Android systems.Constantly crashes causing camera lockups and need to reset equipment.

3. Other than that, it does the job for running an open port which my Sky Safari app can connect to for driving the telescope, and so I'm finding it useful.

4. Never lost a signal, never stopped working even after running for lots of nights doing astrophotography, running for 3 to 5 hours a night.

5. I had to manually enable location permission from Android, because installation didn't demand it from Android, before it would auto detect where I was for alignment purposes.

6. I'm looking forward to trying the image capture function which appears to be an intervalometer for the camera, controlled through the mount , which I've only just discovered.

7. Today, the app connects to the mount but when I click any of the alignment options, it crashes.

8. SynScan Pro works well for me and functions as a gateway for SkySafari to have wireless control of my mount.This app crashes a lot.

9. I run the free version for about 6 months with same success and because I love it so much I purchased the paid version and running it ever since.

10. I did not get it to run on the latest Android releases (specifically 11), but I used one of my old phones with Android 10 and it works fine.

11. I've never had a single connection problem with the app, but it is a bit clunky, with some options in odd places, and things are not always explained very wellThis app is great.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix SynScan Pro Issues

1. Fix SynScan Pro Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart SynScan Pro: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the SynScan Pro App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "SynScan Pro" » Open SynScan Pro » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for SynScan Pro » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear SynScan Pro app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from SynScan Pro servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "SynScan Pro" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check SynScan Pro app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, SynScan Pro might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall SynScan Pro. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall SynScan Pro then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing SynScan Pro not working


2. Fix SynScan Pro Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make SynScan Pro be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to SynScan Pro not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, SynScan Pro may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
