About Azure Information Protection

5. Azure Information Protection app enables you to securely collaborate with others.

6. You cannot use Microsoft Account (Live, Hotmail or Outlook. com) account to sign in.

7. IT administrators can also deploy and manage the app for devices that are enrolled by Intune.

1. It always says unsupported file while im trying to open a file from outlook.Better look on to this as it had impacted more than 100 persons in my organisation!Stopped working months ago.

2. Fix coming under v 3.0.4635.1. MS at the moment has some issues uploading newer versions of AIP on playstore and working with Google to fix it.Not a Good App.It Fails to open even a pdf file.

3. If I open any other app and switch back to this app, the file which I opened is no more available and app shows "error occurred".

4. App freezes and says it's not responding.Claims to only need sign in when you try to open the rpmsg file.

5. I see numerous similar reports on here, so it seems to be an issue with the app itself that needs to be fixed.PLEASE FIX THIS APP!!! It was working fine, now will not open secure documents for viewing at all.

6. For example, it will play a .wav file in an Outlook attachment, but not one stored in OneDrive.Some Android OS 11 devices getting issues with this app.

7. Since the 12-15 update, AIP viewer freezes at the splash screen on my Samsung S20+ We are an intune Shop and on new installs we do get the app protection Splash Screen.

8. I occassionally open any other app while this app is running in background.

9. I am forced to reopen the file and scroll to the level where I had left earlier.

10. I keep getting an error message saying the AIP viewer app is not responding.

11. We use it for protected emails and Files not supported by the other intune apps.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Azure In Issues

1. Fix Azure In Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Azure In: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Azure In App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Azure In" » Open Azure Information Protection » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Azure In » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Azure Information Protection app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Azure In servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Azure Information Protection" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Azure In app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Azure In might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Azure In. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Azure In then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Azure In not working


2. Fix Azure In Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Azure In be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Azure In not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Azure In may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
