PictureThis Customer Insights

1. I would love reminders for when it's time to do certain things to individual plants i have saved to "my garden"(prune, trim, thin, bring inside, etc)- it may be a feature that I just haven't seen yet.When you have 4 or 5 bars signal strength, this app is amazing.

2. Plants have useful info, most of which has been accurate except for that one plant (both plant ID & info about the plant it thought it was were incorrect).

3. They don't actually let you try the features like the expert one on one, so I have no clue if those even exist, but the auto diagnosis kept saying it failed, so I tried to contact them for technical support and it is an ai that gives you limited options to choose from.

4. This was very useful when the first ID was incorrect, but now you're forced to go with the first option or take different photos until the correct plant comes up.This is by far the best.

5. When the flaws are fixed, it will go from 3 to 5 stars.Waste of time and money! I meant to cancel before the free trial ended because the app only does 2/3 of what I needed and the 1/3 it doesn't is probably the most important.

6. I've only used it for 3 birds & all 3 results were accurate.Love this app! Every feature has been helpful.

7. Out of maybe 15 plants, all but 1 plant ID has been correct so far.

8. The plant identification accuracy has been 100%.

9. The bad: every time I launch the app it starts with a full page "upgrade to premium" ad that's very easy to accidentally do thanks to button placement on the ad.I absolutely LOVE this app.

10. EDIT: do not purchase the ask an expert is fake.Loved this app until recently, as it gives pretty accurate ids, plus extra information, pretty much anything you could expect from a quick snap.

11. However, after the recent update, there are no longer possible options to choose from of what the plant could be.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix PictureThis Issues

1. Fix PictureThis Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart PictureThis: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the PictureThis App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "PictureThis" » Open PictureThis - Plant Identifier » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for PictureThis » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear PictureThis - Plant Identifier app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from PictureThis servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "PictureThis - Plant Identifier" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check PictureThis app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, PictureThis might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall PictureThis. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall PictureThis then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing PictureThis not working


2. Fix PictureThis Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make PictureThis be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to PictureThis not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, PictureThis may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I got your app to identify one plant on Fourth of July weekend. I chose the free trial knowing it was a one time thing. After use I immediately went to the manage my subscription option and canceled. To my dismay, I got charged for the yearly membership.   • I was charged $29.99 IMMEDIATELY even though I thought this was A free trial. I called my bank immediately upon realizing that you had zapped the money out of my account and they will be in touch if you refuse to refund. I would never have done this without a free trial and want my money back! This is NOT what I was agreeing to!

  • I purchased a subscription for your app somewhere around 3 months ago. Recently I changed my device from an Android to a iPhone and it won’t allow me to restore my subscription. I read that by contacting technical support threw the app you could be of assistance even if my data isn’t transferred I would be happy to have access to my membership and continue my research!

  • Good morning yesterday my niece took my phone and unbeknown to me star seeds to take photos of plants in my garden using the app she had seen me saying that there was a free trial I hadn’t used, she managed to get my face by taking a selfie as I thought while I was busy talking to others that she had in fact use my face recognition to use the free trial and started taking pictures without my knowledge this has charged me 2499 can you help please I don’t want the app I have tried it I had a trial for one day once this yearI can’t afford to pay 2499 I need that to get me through the rest of the month thank you Elaine

    Unfortunately my I phone is not able anymore to connect to Internet so I am now using an Android.
