PictureThis Customer Insights

1. I would love reminders for when it's time to do certain things to individual plants i have saved to "my garden"(prune, trim, thin, bring inside, etc)- it may be a feature that I just haven't seen yet.When you have 4 or 5 bars signal strength, this app is amazing.

2. Plants have useful info, most of which has been accurate except for that one plant (both plant ID & info about the plant it thought it was were incorrect).

3. They don't actually let you try the features like the expert one on one, so I have no clue if those even exist, but the auto diagnosis kept saying it failed, so I tried to contact them for technical support and it is an ai that gives you limited options to choose from.

4. This was very useful when the first ID was incorrect, but now you're forced to go with the first option or take different photos until the correct plant comes up.This is by far the best.

5. When the flaws are fixed, it will go from 3 to 5 stars.Waste of time and money! I meant to cancel before the free trial ended because the app only does 2/3 of what I needed and the 1/3 it doesn't is probably the most important.

6. I've only used it for 3 birds & all 3 results were accurate.Love this app! Every feature has been helpful.

7. Out of maybe 15 plants, all but 1 plant ID has been correct so far.

8. The plant identification accuracy has been 100%.

9. The bad: every time I launch the app it starts with a full page "upgrade to premium" ad that's very easy to accidentally do thanks to button placement on the ad.I absolutely LOVE this app.

10. EDIT: do not purchase the ask an expert is fake.Loved this app until recently, as it gives pretty accurate ids, plus extra information, pretty much anything you could expect from a quick snap.

11. However, after the recent update, there are no longer possible options to choose from of what the plant could be.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix PictureThis Issues

1. Fix PictureThis Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart PictureThis: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the PictureThis App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "PictureThis" » Open PictureThis - Plant Identifier » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for PictureThis » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear PictureThis - Plant Identifier app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from PictureThis servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "PictureThis - Plant Identifier" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check PictureThis app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, PictureThis might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall PictureThis. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall PictureThis then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing PictureThis not working


2. Fix PictureThis Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make PictureThis be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to PictureThis not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, PictureThis may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I did NOT intend to subscribe to Picture This and will dispute it if you charge our credit card. I didn't enter any credit card information but when I tapped "continue" to see if Picture This was the app I used for another function, it said my card had been charged. That's absurd. Please check an additional email to be sure you did not charge me. It could be the email ckelms@redacted or cindraelms@redacted.   • Hi there. I've been using PictureThis for a year (annual renewal) but when I went to it this morning, my entire library was gone. I see on the app store there was some kind of update recently, wondered if you could tell me if my library is gone forever or can be restored or is stored somewhere or anything at all.   • I switched from my android phone to an iPhone in December 2020. I tried to download the app on my new iPhone but it wouldn’t allow me to switch over my account. It wanted me to purchase a whole new account. Because of this for the last six months I have been trying to contact you and haven’t received any answers.   • I received and email from Apple saying my subscription confirmation starting May 29, 2021. When I attemp to use my free trial week, I receive failed messages and when I attempt to identify a picture of impatiens as a test it says unavailable and one screen flashes 53% loaded but never loads more.   • Sur App store, il est indiqué que votre application est gratuite. Mais je constate que cela n'est pas du tout vrai. Immédiatement après avoir ouvert votre application, j'ai vu apparaître son coût de 29.-. Je l'ai désinstallée de suite. Mais quelle ne fut pas ma surprise de découvrir que vous aviez encaissé les 29.- sur mon compte Apple.

    Je trouve le procédé scandaleux. Puisque je l'ai désinstallée à peine deux minutes après avoir constaté le tarif, je n'ai donc plus cette application sur mon portable et je suis délesté de 29.-, alors que vous prétendez que cette application est gratuite.

    Je vous demande donc le remboursement d'une application que je n'ai pas.

  • This program will not work on my phone. I signed up and took 2 pictures and then it said I had no internet connection – but I did because I looked you up and couldn’t find a customer service contact. I went in today at work to try and locate somewhere I could contact you. I did pay for a premium membership but it said I have 7 days to cancel – can you please make sure my subscription is cancelled as it does me no good to have it if I can’t use it on my phone. I did try to reload the program and got the same result after taking 3 pictures – just spins and says no internet.

  • Hi, I downloaded this app yesterday. It clearly stated “7 day free trial” followed by a note, “if you cancel your subscription one day before the end of your 7 day trial you will NOT be charged”. Well I cancelled my subscription today. ONE day after downloading the app and I HAVE been charged. 29.99!!   • I accidentally did not cancel my free trial to your app. My only complaint is that it went directly to the yearly subscription rather than the weekly one. I did not want to pay such a large amount and cannot afford to.

  • Hello, I was shocked to find today that each time I tried to take a sample picture (for identification purposes) with this app it said ‘identification failed’. I am now worried that I may have paid twice for my annual subscription too. Please can this be addressed as soon as possible. I didn’t have this issue in the past.

  • I broke my Phone and in the process of reinstalling yalls app i didn't c existing customer login so i signed in with google and once i realized it it doesn't offer a login or logout option in the app so ho do i vet it back im paid up til may or june???

  • Hi, I recently used your app which I fully intended to keep as I am a collector of unique plants. My income has temporarily been cut in half until April. Could you possibly refund your service charge which I will continue on May 1st? I currently, this month, have $660 for the month and am $15 short for my basic bills.
