1. We rely on peer-reviewed science. ➜ The Nutri-Score has been created by the independent French team led by Professor Hercberg. ➜ The NOVA groups on food processing have been designed by the international team of Professor Monteiro. ➜ The additives synthesis is based on reviews by EFSA on exposure levels on food additives. ➜ The Open Food Facts community is collaborating with research teams across the planet to improve nutrition research that benefits all. ➜ You don't need a camera to look up a product.
2. We have lots of exciting projects you can contribute to in many different ways. ➜ Open Food Facts helps you decipher products labels. ➜ Nutriscore (nutritional score), nutrients, fat / fat content, saturated fatty acids, carbohydrates, sugars, fiber, protein and salt and sodium. ➜ brands, allergens, labels (bio, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, halal, kosher ... ➜ On wines and beers, you will find the alcohol content. ➜ We don't make up things.
3. You can also type the barcode if you lack a camera or have an issue with it. ➜ Milk, Gluten, Eggs, Soybeans, Nuts, Fish, Celery, Mustard, Sulphur dioxide and sulphites, Peanuts, Sesame seeds, Crustaceans, Molluscs or Lupin allergy ? ➜ Speed up your shopping by doing an initial screening of your food with Open Food Facts. ➜ Be careful that the information may not be 100% accurate, and detection may not be 100% accurate.
4. Open Food Facts has enabled the creation of over 100 apps like Date Limite, Yuka or FoodVisor. ➜ Open Food Facts is a food products database made by everyone, for everyone. ➜ You can use it to make better food choices, and as it is open data, anyone can re-use it for any purpose. ➜ You can start contributing today by adding a product from your fridge. ➜ Open Food Facts is a non-profit project developed by thousands of volunteers from around the world.
5. The app allows to scan the 3 million products already contained in the free and open database Open Food Facts.
6. If we don't have the product, you can add pictures and data to get the Nutri-Score and NOVA score on food processing.
7. In short, we're kind of "the Wikipedia of food", as many have nicknamed the project.
8. The app is collaborative.
9. So always double check by yourself, with the packaging.
1. I can still add/edit products through the web interface.Great Idea but stop continously using the camera! Not only that it keeps scanning the bar code with incorrect values, point at one bar code searches for 8 items with different numbers.
2. As all info is shown in non-existent 100g, using the app is very uninformative and tedious.I do like the idea of the app but unfortunately is quite buggy to use on my phone e.g. once i entered nutrients for a product I simply cannot delete them anymore.
3. The installer crashes no matter which app I try with.App looks interesting but scaning doesn't work on Nokia g60 - First impression...then after closing app and opening again appears to work...I will write more after using it for a while. The app looks good and I would like to make use of it, but the scanner doesn't work.
4. The reason I first installed the app was because I am required to keep track of my carbs, and using the feature that calculates the nutrition info for a specific amount was extremely useful.
5. But the clear grading of products makes it easy to complete a grocery shopping trip without having to read a bunch of labels if you are buying products you have not bought before.Inputting data is tedious and it often fails to update.
6. The user interface is a little confusing initially, and when you scan a product, you have to find that product in your scan history to get more details about it (or I am missing something in the confusing and clunky interface).
7. I find the new redesign much harder to use & navigate, and even missing the feature for which I installed it and used the most.
8. If the feature does still exist, I can't find it, and the app is just overall hard to navigate.Interesting concept, and lots of useful information.
9. Bar code scanner needs to open on tap and not be continous. Why I can't uninstall this from my device? I have tried everything, and I don't want reset my phone because of your app.
10. You have to edit nutrition info to see per serving data.
11. I can see the video, but not scan. You can learn something new just scanning the products in your home now.
