Receipt Hog Customer Insights

1. Inactivity fees imposed on apps like these (for saving money or earning cashback) feels very shady to me.There seems to be a lot of issues with submitted receipts, like not being clear, duplicate or not complete when they infact are not blurry, short or duplicated.

2. This will take you triple the amount of time to cash out.Very simple to use and if you take pictures of your receipts I've had no issues turning them in and getting the appropriate coins.

3. ETA 6/4/23: I have received the exact same unskippable questionnaire the past few times I've submitted receipts (which means I have to force-close and reopen the app *every single time*), so I'm taking away another star.Have a lot of issues with it saying the receipts are not clear enough to read.

4. Its just annoying to have to take the extra time to look through all of them, click the camera icon and wait for the image to pop up then go back and look for the "duplucate" one in question and hit the tab to correct the issue.The app would be great if it would quit deactivating my linked accounts and had a way to contact them (no email, no phone or website.

5. They do offer a drop down bar to correct the issues, but it seems to happen every time i submit any receipts.

6. On top of that, I would say 2 out of every 5 receipts I scan comes back as an error, such as not entire receipt, or image blurry and they deny credit.

7. The only one it didn't disconnect was Safeway but, conveniently, it says they are having a problem getting my online receipts.

8. Now, the linking your email or store accounts and having the app find your receipts that way had been a different experience.

9. Also, I had issues with my phone so I wasn't able to use the app for some time and after installing on my new phone, all of my points are gone.

10. Will give 5 stars when I cash out successfully! Edit: Cashed out successfully! 5 starsOut of all the apps to get credit for your receipts this is the worst.

11. The biggest complaint is if you put a receipt in the day that it's going to expire and it doesn't clear then the next day when you get in there it tells you it's an old receipt but it wasn't when you put it in.I like the app so far! Simple and easy to use design.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Receipt Hog Issues

1. Fix Receipt Hog Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Receipt Hog: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Receipt Hog App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Receipt Hog" » Open Receipt Hog: Cash for Receipts » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Receipt Hog » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Receipt Hog: Cash for Receipts app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Receipt Hog servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Receipt Hog: Cash for Receipts" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Receipt Hog app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Receipt Hog might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Receipt Hog. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Receipt Hog then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Receipt Hog not working


2. Fix Receipt Hog Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Receipt Hog be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Receipt Hog not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Receipt Hog may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • For the longest time, I have tried to hook up my Amazon account. If you look at how long I’ve been using your app, you’ll see, it’s been quite a while. I have had issues before, regarding accounts, disappearing, and some other issues, but they were worked out by your customer care department to my satisfaction. So I thank you for that. But right now I’m addressing something that’s been going on for quite a while. My Amazon account will not connect even though I am entering the correct email and password for my account. The account that I would like to add is my wife’s. The email is joanne.murad@redacted. I don’t know if you can access this remotely or not but I would rather not put my password on this email. So please contact me ASAP so that I can attain the points associated with my Amazon account. I do enjoy using your app , but the minute it gets to be more time-consuming than it’s worth, is the day I delete it. My kids enjoy collecting receipts for me. So I’d like to keep it.
