1. I think it's fair to wager Fitbit will end up in the Google boneyard of neglect.I've been using my Fitbit Versa 4 for 6 months.

2. Now the watch is immensely useful and dependable!My experience with my Fitbit tracker and this app have been just good.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Fitbit Issues

1. Fix Fitbit Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Fitbit: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Fitbit App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Fitbit" » Open Fitbit » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Fitbit » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Fitbit app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Fitbit servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Fitbit" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Fitbit app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Fitbit might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Fitbit. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Fitbit then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Fitbit not working


2. Fix Fitbit Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Fitbit be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Fitbit not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Fitbit may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

    I am conducting a research study that is focused around sleep and physical activity. My research size is approx. 600-650 participants that will each require a fitbit watch. I am looking for your recommendation in relation to purchasing the most suitable watch that will meet the requirements of my study.

    Would you be able to recommend what watch is the most accurate in relation to sleep and physical activity. Can you also advise me on what specifically it tracks and monitors?
    Will the participants have to press any buttons in order to track there sleep and activity or will the watch automatically pick this up? I do not need the watch to do any other functions.

    I need this information as soon as possible.
