1. I've been in contact with The Times customer service and apparently it's my fault for using a tablet, Galaxy S4, that doesn't accept security updates, even though it is running on up to date Android 9 software.
2. I would advise anyone planning to subscribe to the digital edition and read via the app to avoid like the plague.Terrible app, it doesn't work properly on my Lenovo tablet.
3. Works fine on an Android phone, so surely it's not beyond the wit of man to fix - if you can be botheredOver the last couple of months, pages have been freezing, text is over-lapping, and the app has consistently failed to function properly.
4. Once loaded it works well and can be read offline without any problems.I've been using this app for years and it continues to frustrate.
5. Surely that's the point of using the app over the website? Also, something that annoys me that weirdly nobody else seems to have mentioned, is that the screen doesn't stay on while you're reading.
6. Some text is lost from the end of articles, it doesn't seem to adapt to different screen sizes.
7. It's also very annoying that (assuming you've missed the elusive auto download trigger - a mysterious event that happens haphazardly) you have to download every section of the an edition separately and consecutively.
8. Reading the issue on the website is an option but that has the very irritating habit of jumping up and down the screen for 10 seconds or so while the sections line themselves up.
9. When I have my tablet in landscape mode, text gets lost at the bottom of the page or repeated at the top of the next column.
10. Out of words so: poor.Barely usable on my standard Lenovo tablet (which you'd think would be the best sort of device to read the Times on).
11. Now after several more days of frustration at being unable to read the edition uninterrupted I have decided to cancel my subscription.
