1. (They should also be the main feature of what you see as that's what you check most often).I've been using this app for about a year now in conjunction with a Synology NAS and 4 DLink home security cameras.

2. I have not experienced many issues through the years using this app, however, I recently logged in and noticed I no longer have PTZ controls on any of my PTZ cameras that were previously working as expected.

3. Advice to Synology... If you wish to increase market share you need to revisit camera license pricing.Updated to 3 stars.

4. It's common for the code not to be correctly synced with NTPI have (9) surveillance cameras in and around my property comprising of different manufacturers.

5. The timeline worked fine before this latest major update.Lost PTZ control/button as of a month or so ago.

6. Once you invest the time to figure out all of the nuances, settings/configuration this app works better than any and I mean any of the other apps offered.

7. I've been using AVertx cameras which I purchase from costco.

8. Otherwise the app works great, learning as I went along.I've used this app for over 5 years and it has improved drastically from its inception.

9. Your system is FAR too expensive to not update.Would be nice if it could remember the last Synology connected for those of us with multiple.

10. Using the timeline to go back to an event or even to just slide back causes it to freeze.

11. The new version adds the ability to easily review the recording timeline including points where motion detection was triggered.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix DS cam Issues

1. Fix DS cam Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart DS cam: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the DS cam App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "DS cam" » Open DS cam » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for DS cam » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear DS cam app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from DS cam servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "DS cam" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check DS cam app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, DS cam might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall DS cam. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall DS cam then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing DS cam not working


2. Fix DS cam Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make DS cam be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to DS cam not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, DS cam may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
