1. There is a setting you can turn on so that the app tells you when it's lost signal but that's not helpful when you're in the middle of a run, is it? If you have a newer phone (android or apple) I would stick to the free version until they get the issue fixed since it's great for timed runs.

2. Otherwise, you'll get a notification that the GPS signal is lost and it will underestimate your distance.I was using another app that kept crashing in the middle of a run and because you're not staring at your phone you don't know until you've been running or walking for way too long.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Couch to 5K Issues

1. Fix Couch to 5K Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Couch to 5K: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Couch to 5K App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Couch to 5K" » Open Couch to 5K by RunDouble » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Couch to 5K » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Couch to 5K by RunDouble app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Couch to 5K servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Couch to 5K by RunDouble" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Couch to 5K app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Couch to 5K might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Couch to 5K. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Couch to 5K then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Couch to 5K not working
