About Snapshot®

1. For new Snapshot mobile customers in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, or Tennessee, please download and finish setting up Snapshot in the Progressive app.

2. For policyholders: People who’ve already purchased a Progressive insurance policy and enrolled in Snapshot with the mobile app (not the plug-in device) can use it to complete their Snapshot driving period.

3. For everyone else: People who are not current Progressive customers can use the Snapshot app to participate in Snapshot Road Test.

4. The Snapshot app is available to everyone, even if you’re not a Progressive policyholder.

5. It’s a way to try out Snapshot before you buy, and potentially even earn a discount!

Snapshot Customer Insights

1. I get "events" when I message for curbside pick up, when I walk from the car to the train, when a passenger touches my phone, when someone texts or calls while I'm driving even if I don't touch my phone or answer, sometimes cant tell the difference between my car and the bus route, and it stalks me.

2. If my girlfriend goes on my phone to change the music while I'm driving, it's registers as phone use and I'll have 30 events for that trip.

3. Do better Progressive!Runs in the background all the time so it does eat up battery, and I can't charge my phone in the car because the battery gets too hot due to apps running in the background while charging.

4. Doesn't record trips accurately, and if you use your phone immediately after parking it will say you are still driving.

5. If I get a call or make a call while driving, it logs a phone use event.

6. So you gotta be careful about where you out your phone.Great app for tracking driving.

7. The downside is, if your phone falls off your phone holder, it triggers events like slamming on the breaks and those you can't fix.

8. Not sure how it knows if you are a passenger or not.Constantly runs in the background and interferes with phone performance.

9. Second, it drains your phone battery, bady.

10. App thought I was still driving and reded it as phone use.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Snapshot Issues

1. Fix Snapshot Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Snapshot: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Snapshot App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Snapshot" » Open Snapshot® » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Snapshot » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Snapshot® app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Snapshot servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Snapshot®" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Snapshot app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Snapshot might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Snapshot. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Snapshot then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Snapshot not working


2. Fix Snapshot Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Snapshot be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Snapshot not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Snapshot may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
