Motus Customer Insights

1. Just wish it didn't take 11 days to get reimbursed.I learned to never use the automatic trip capture when I had Runzheimer and had no problems with it capturing the entire trip and not stop mid trip, however after submitting my January mileage and taking a trip I have gotten at least 20 notifications "1/1 trips successfully uploaded".

2. The reason I gave this app three stars is that you are able to go in and manually edit the stops for a day and there is a web interface which makes it easier to review and edit mileage before submitting it for the month.

3. The desk top doesn't allow for back filling missed stops.Randomly decides it wants to stop recording mileage without any kind of warning.

4. Would not use if not forced to by company.If you or your company is considering mileage tracking services, stay away from Motus.

5. It had erroneously captured a trip after 5pm AFTER I had closed the app, even though I did not manually start it and DO NOT have automatic trip capture.

6. It has settings to start capturing mileage at certain time of each day.

7. I'm forced to use the piece of junk for my company's mileage reimbursement program.

8. In fact I've had the app for two months and it has only uploaded three trips when using manual mode.

9. If I were forced to use this app on a personal phone, I would absolutely refuse unless the company agrees to cover replacement batteries and/or phones.

10. Attempting to manually enter trips is a total waste of time.

11. Would be nice if it integrates with Google maps so that my trips can be imported to Motus from my Google maps timeline.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Motus Issues

1. Fix Motus Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Motus: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Motus App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Motus" » Open Motus - Business Mileage Log » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Motus » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Motus - Business Mileage Log app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Motus servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Motus - Business Mileage Log" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Motus app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Motus might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Motus. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Motus then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Motus not working


2. Fix Motus Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Motus be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Motus not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Motus may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
