HSBC US Customer Insights

1. Other banks don't have this problem.The check deposit feature DOESN'T WORK on this new version - it refuses to take the photo of the check, and even when it's a green light (which you would think would me "OK"), it won't take the photo.

2. Saving one for improvements.Worst app ever! Taking pictures of the check for deposit is impossible! Also who put the flash on and off to the lower right hand corner! Took me a while to find it.

3. Just updated the app, and whatever bugs got fixed, it wasn't the check deposit bug.This app is Garbage, the whole point is to save time by depositing with it instead of going to the bank.

4. I had to spend 15 minutes on the phone switching some sort of digital security from my old phone to this one, but at least I don't have to enter my birth date every time I want to check my account, and finally can use a fingerprint (hallelujah!).

5. Auto pay for credit card, I only get the option to pay minimum or statement balance, what if I want to pay more than minimum??? There should be the third option of "other" where customers can input a certain amount.

6. Taking pictures of a check for deposit is clunky and flaky.

7. Took me more than 10 minutes to finally complete the deposit! The previous app gives me all the control of the image and I control when to take the picture.

8. The flash thing was on the upper left hand corner where it is easy to find.It's amazing with this app/bank, I always encounter an unusual problem you don't experience with other banks.

9. The check deposit is among the worst I've ever seen with any bank app.

10. The absence of a manual picture taking option is a total time suck.

11. There are a few minor issues, like getting notified that a check deposit was actually processed.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix HSBC US Issues

1. Fix HSBC US Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart HSBC US: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the HSBC US App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "HSBC US" » Open HSBC US » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for HSBC US » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear HSBC US app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from HSBC US servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "HSBC US" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check HSBC US app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, HSBC US might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall HSBC US. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall HSBC US then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing HSBC US not working


2. Fix HSBC US Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make HSBC US be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to HSBC US not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, HSBC US may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
