1. A cable remote is an easier option.Don't Download! This app used to let me transfer my photos from my camera to my phone no problem! After spending half an hour making a login I realized there was no way for my photos to be transferred.

2. This software, however, is a disappointing, frustrating, and massive failure.The app used to be great with direct photo transfer between camera and phone, part of the reason why I chose my Sony camera.

3. when you spend $500+ on a camera specifically for the handiness of being able to transfer the photos wirelessly, but it cannot be used for the sole purpose of just that...no thanks.

4. Currently if you know the photo you are looking for was taken in the mid 90s you have to spend a long time scrolling through other newer photos.I don't know why Sony decided to change the app.

5. The 2nd transfer app that was created by Sony doesn't even connect to your camera... Where is the wireless transfer feature for my camera?? Can we have the old app back? Uninstalling.Changed for the worse.

6. I used to be able to TRANSFER photos via my Sony's WIFI to my phone using this app.

7. If you want to transfer photos from camera to phone, you need a USB cable.

8. It is fine for small numbers if photos but after you get large numbers of photos on the service it starts to become very hard to find the photo you are looking for.

9. The original app was perfect for what I needed I could use it to remote control my a7riii could make in camera adjustments from my phone, iso, time release everything.

10. The previous version was easy to use, to the point AND actually connected to the Sony camera.

11. Given only the option to take a photo (with my phone, not the camera) or upload a photo (from my phone).

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix PlayMemories Online Issues

1. Fix PlayMemories Online Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart PlayMemories Online: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the PlayMemories Online App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "PlayMemories Online" » Open PlayMemories Online » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for PlayMemories Online » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear PlayMemories Online app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from PlayMemories Online servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "PlayMemories Online" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check PlayMemories Online app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, PlayMemories Online might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall PlayMemories Online. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall PlayMemories Online then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing PlayMemories Online not working


2. Fix PlayMemories Online Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make PlayMemories Online be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to PlayMemories Online not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, PlayMemories Online may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
