1. you can also leave way points of your favourite or GoTo locations with a description so you know what they are later, everything conveniently saves to the hot bar.As a spacial scientist, I find this app to be an wonderful tool, not only because it provides access to a wide range of maps and types but the capacity to add layers is especially useful at times.
2. (Sure, it needs internet access, or that you have the paid version and cached the area.)Great app, very useful when hiking.
3. It lets you download a large range of free maps in whatever resolution you want.
4. Ability to cache maps to work offline.
5. Having access to several maps plus satellite images, wherever you need it.. priceless.
6. Saving maps offline is an excellent feature for when you're out of mobile coverage.
7. Another improvement would be an ability to project and plot Mils bearings. As an RFS member I find this app and its features extremely helpful for navigation and recording/saving data.
8. The tripmaster function is useful and also some of the aerial imagery that is higher resolution than what Google provides me with.
9. Import a gpx (or record your own), convert it to a route (if it is recorded as a track), then open the route and away you go.best app I've found so far for locating 4wd tracks and identifying seasonal closure tracks.
10. I use it for military use (when we're allowed to carry our phones), for hiking, kayaking, boating and marking fishing locations.
11. The tracking function is very useful on poorly marked trails when you need to back track.
