1. (I've rented vehicles in Illinois/Indiana and in Florida and never experienced this issue after purchasing a physical tag from those respective toll authorities.)SCAM APP - DO NOT USE - Set up the app exactly as instructed, but my tolls were still charged through my rental car provider via PlatePass with a nice $9.99 daily fee tacked on.

Many stars off for being overaggressive in the safety checks to the point that it's unusable on my phone and because posting a review seems to be the only way to reach anyone who can provide support for the app.App is nice and convenient but Harris County needs to find a way to work on the real time accounting system for the app.

I can (and did) change the car as soon as I understood my mistake but it will probably make no difference.I don't normally write a review, but I feel compelled to do so to warn others who are planning to rent a car in Texas and rely on the EZ TAG Express app to avoid paying the convenience fee charged by rental car agencies.

4. Reply to your response, "Each tolling authority in Texas may process tolls differently." If that's the case, then stop advertising this as a suitable alternative.Although my Android phone (OP6T) is assuredly not rooted (I ran two checkers to reconfirm), the app says the device is rooted and won't launch.

5. Anyway, I realize this is a long review, but hopefully it will prompt the folks at HCTRA to fix the problem, rather than kick the bucket down the road and suggest that the customer ask for a credit from the rental agency.

6. WTH this is almost useless to help claim for business toll reimbursement.A necessity for rental cars in Houston, however, the app doesn't work.

7. so they must need to fix create pdf icon or you will not be able to save the records if you needed to re check when you get violation tickets for tolls..Very easy to use, and perfect for me because I only travel on toll roads once in a while.

8. A few weeks ago, I rented a car with Budget and immediately registered and activated that rental vehicle's tag in my EZ TAG Express app, which I had set up a couple months earlier, and set it to expire at a date/time that coincided with the vehicle's return.

9. I have to presume that the app works in all these areas since the website claims it works "throughout Texas", although this would have been a good question to ask.) After speaking with both a representative and a team lead from the HCTRA, the only conclusion that could be drawn is that the software used by the HCTRA is poorly written.

1. Fix EZ TAG Express Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:

1. Restart EZ TAG Express: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
2. Update the EZ TAG Express App. Here is how:
   1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "EZ TAG Express" » Open EZ TAG Express » click "Update".
   2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for EZ TAG Express » click "UPDATE".
3. Clear EZ TAG Express app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from EZ TAG Express servers.
   1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "EZ TAG Express" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
4. Check EZ TAG Express app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, EZ TAG Express might not work.
5. Uninstall and reinstall EZ TAG Express. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall EZ TAG Express then reinstall.
6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing EZ TAG Express not working

2. Fix EZ TAG Express Server issues & Internet Connection

1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make EZ TAG Express be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to EZ TAG Express not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, EZ TAG Express may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
