1. For example you could verify in Android Settings, Apps, GPS Logger, Battery that the Background Activity is allowed and the Battery Usage is Not Optimised. - This program is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version. - When The EGM96 Automatic Correction is enabled for the first time into the Setting Screen, the file of the geoid heights is downloaded from the OSGeo. org website. (File size: 2 MB).
2. You can record all your trips, view them with any installed external viewer, directly from the in-app tracklist, and share them in KML, GPX, and TXT format in many ways. - Automatic Altitude Correction, based on NGA EGM96 Earth Geoid Model (you can enable it on Settings). - Track sharing, in KML, GPX, and TXT format, via E-mail, Dropbox, Google Drive, FTP, ...
3. Depending on your Android Version, if you want to run GPS Logger reliably in background, you have to disable ALL the battery optimisations.
4. This app is very accurate in determining the orthometric height (the altitude above sea level), if you enable EGM96 altitude correction on settings.
5. In GPS Logger the Location is always accessed (started) when the App is in Foreground, and then is kept active also in background.
6. On Android 10+ the app needs the Location permission "only while using the app".
7. BasicAirData GPS Logger is a simple App for recording your position and your path.
8. It works offline (without internet connection), it has NO integrated maps.
9. It's a basic and lightweight GPS tracker focused on accuracy, with an eye to power saving.
10. In case of any issue, you may find it helpful to read the frequently asked questions ( ).
11. It doesn't need the "all the time" permission.
1. - previously reported problem with track export was caused by the phone, not this application.I've only had this for a day, but so far it's been awesome! Started tracking when I hit the first dirt road today, quickly added "annotations" at places with good camp sites, deadfalls, views, washouts, etc., and was able to quickly export the data when I got home.
2. Bonus points for being comparatively small and lightweight (3 hours of hiking only drained my battery about 24% and my phone normally drains much faster especially with GPS on) I know hiking isn't the primary use of this app but I would love the ability to see elevation gain/loss totals and graphs.
3. BUT ... I have not been able to make it record continuously, it stops recording the moment the screen turns off when I put the phone in my pocket / satchel / lunch bag, even though I have excluded from battery optimization.
4. Nice bonus is the save/mark of waypoints and i love the easy export of .gpx (direct open i Garmin basecamp and many other pc software) and kml file to open it in 'Google earth'.
5. Well done.Exactly what I was looking for, a simple light app that records tracks (for exercise and commute optimization purposes, in my case) and export / show them later.
6. Maybe I'll contribute. While logging, I want to be able to lock the screen and put the phone in my pocket or use a navigation app in the foreground.
7. I am using a Pixel 2XL with Android 11 EDIT: Whoa! Fast support, thanks! I had Location access only while using the app, changed to always and it worked on my commute back.
8. I use the output files with ( exiftool ) to tag photos from my Nikon DSLR and mirrorless Fujifilm cameras that don't embed gps information. If only it were accurate on distance.
9. According another feedback, the cause is with MIUI of my Xiaomi phone being aggressive.Very easy to use.
10. Thank you!Great app! I downloaded this halfway through a hike to get some basic distance calculations and gpx tracks and it worked perfectly.
11. Love the ability to pause the recording of a track and to add placemarks.
