1. I offset this quirk by muting the string and allowing silence for a few seconds then trying again but sometimes it takes a few tries for the app to register the actual Hz of the string that is being tuned.Well, not to say my mandolin is perfect, but I gotta give this tuner a 1/5 due to popping one string, and once "tuned" it almost sounded worse than when I started.
2. Not only does it work great, but it has presets so that you can tune to several common mandolin tunings, as well as a chromatic tuner setting.
3. People who gave it a single star did not realise!Works well for tuning my mandolin (I am new and so don't require a super high tech tuner yet).
4. Thanks for trying.Brilliant! Has a chromatic option, as well as numerous tuning specific ones, and doesn't charge you to unlock the other tunings unlike another app I tried.
5. Haven't tried the Pro version because of the poor performance of the free version. Not only gives the note you are playing and a meter to show how close you are to it, it also displays the frequency to two decimal points.
6. It does require quiet surroundings, as is to be expected. This app might work in a soundproof room but for the average home picker or student it is too sensitive and cantankerous.
7. If you wanted to make it a paid app just make it a paid app.Picks up the sound of the mandolin over other sounds in the room.
8. It's a great app for perhaps a semi professional but as a general tuner, not so muchBummer, I wanted to give this a good review.
9. The open strum sounded right, but then the chop chords were muted and not at all how they sounded using a different tuner I downloaded before.
10. When the proper string is selected to match for tuning, the app registers seemingly random Hz measures.
11. When the app started playing a constantly repeating loop so I can't try to tune anything and strong arm me into buying it is in poor form.
