SmartLink Customer Insights

1. I emailed customer support about my connection issues and they responded with the following "Nautilus use to own Octane and own the app, they sold Octane to True Fitness, but not the rights to the app, Nautilus took down the app recently and True is working on a replacement app but have not given us a release date yet."Same problem with creating profile and using as others have mentioned.

2. Octane fitness just wants to sell you a machine and move on without any customer support.The app no longer allows you to connect a Bluetooth device via phone or tablet so the app is 100% worthless.

3. I tried doing this on my phone first, but there was no field on the phone app to enter a password, so it's impossible to complete setup of a profile so that you can track your workouts.

4. I then tried doing it on a Samsung tablet - there was a field to enter a password on there but once you complete signup, it takes you to a screen where you are basically logged out (with no prompts).

5. Anyway, it's a piece of junk and a complete disappointment which is a shame when you have spent £3250 on a piece of gym equipment.The app is a joke! I bought their very expensive machine having been told by the salesman the app was excellent and would take me though all the training options on it.

6. Octane customer support does not respond to emails.Tried quick start and xmode, I like the way it integrates.

7. Great machine but overpaid for useless app support.It used to work well but a few months ago it stopped recording my workouts.

8. Seems like they have ended all Android support and only update the iPad version.

9. After many glitches and some customer support earlier in year where they couldn't come up with a fix, I contacted them again to see is a firmware update would help.

10. Now I'm being told their app only works on Apple products, they don't support Android.

11. It is basically impossible to setup and/or login to your profile to track workouts.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix SmartLink Issues

1. Fix SmartLink Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart SmartLink: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the SmartLink App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "SmartLink" » Open SmartLink™ » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for SmartLink » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear SmartLink™ app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from SmartLink servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "SmartLink™" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check SmartLink app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, SmartLink might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall SmartLink. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall SmartLink then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing SmartLink not working


2. Fix SmartLink Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make SmartLink be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to SmartLink not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, SmartLink may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
