1. For that reason alone I made the small donation but there is so much more that this app gives you.I've been using this app for several years now to help track my hiking progress through rugged terrain.
2. I really believe they thought they could use Google maps on their phones to get back to civilization not realizing that without cell service, that function doesn't work.
3. It will track my exact route if my screen stays on, but it is a pain to hold my phone and constantly refresh the screen.
4. The customizable dashboards are wonderful, putting the information you need right where you can see!Has a lot of features but the one I care most about is the ability to track my hiking routes on the satellite view.
5. As soon as I put my phone in my pocket or let the screen go dark it starts tracking from that point on to when I refresh in a straight line.
6. The issue that many people report with track recording going haywire is easily solved by setting your permissions to allow this app to run in the background.
7. This is in contrast to other, hiking tracking appsI have used that consume much more of the phones battery and so have to be turned off after a few hours.
8. I use it for cycling, hiking, xc skiing, hunting.I used an earlier version on my old phone and it was great.
9. The latest, however, is a nightmare - incredibly difficult to find your way around (it's not even clear how to get back to the main menu screen) and over-complicated (what's the difference between a 'track' and a 'stream'?).
10. I looked, and sure enough, with the new version of Android, the app wasn't given permission to access location, which made it useless.
11. Unfortunately it measures in straight lines when the screen is off which creates inaccurate distances and I cannot see my exact route.
