Kangaroo Customer Insights

1. The app does not allow you to play back full footage so I turned off the back door camera took out the card, popped it in two separate computers and the micro SD showed as empty both times! What's the point if it won't record!?A mess.

2. When in home armed mode, privacy camera only records when set to "Detect Person", it doesn't record when set to Motion Detection.

3. The images and gifs take forever to load if they do, it's just a doorbell at this point the camera is useless (my wifi isn't the issue, the router is in the same area).

4. My images are totally blown out no matter what setting I have it on, and half the time the gif misses the person who rang the bell or walked up to the door.

5. I can't leave motion detection on without getting a notification every time a car passes on the road (well outside of the 8 ft.

6. Not worth the time and money if it can't be consistent.Right now, my doorbell camera is half useless.

7. Average time for the app to tell me the motion sensor picked something up is 11 minutes and 47 seconds! I'm on a very fast network.

8. Yes, I turned the sensitivity up and drew the detection boxes, yet still it fails to record most motion and sounds.

9. I know this review sounds negative but I've actually been extremely pleased with the system so the little gripes I have make me want them to address them that much more.I got this on kickstarter and I want to love it so badly.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Kangaroo Issues

1. Fix Kangaroo Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Kangaroo: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Kangaroo App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Kangaroo" » Open Kangaroo: Simple Home Security » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Kangaroo » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Kangaroo: Simple Home Security app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Kangaroo servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Kangaroo: Simple Home Security" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Kangaroo app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Kangaroo might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Kangaroo. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Kangaroo then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Kangaroo not working


2. Fix Kangaroo Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Kangaroo be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Kangaroo not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Kangaroo may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I want to cancel my subscription and account from Kangaroo. Please make this effective immediately upon the receipt of this email. This account has not been used since it was set up. The app would not work on my phone so I haven't been able to use it at all. I only remembered that I had it when I spotted the charge for service on my credit card. Please issue a credit for the 23.88.
