1. There has to be better apps than this.Changes status when the TRUCK ISNT ON!! Changed me from sleeper berth to on duty WHILE I WAS SLEEPING AND THE TRUCK WAS OFF!! It's not robots driving these trucks, you know that right??!! Maybe if someone there had spent some time on the road, you'd have better insight into why us humans hate this app.

2. I was stuck...Very very slow, always takes 3 tries to login with correct password, and in all just a terrible app, wish paper logs were still a thingWe installed geotab into 30 units so far.

3. Should be freeRequires for my job but pop ups for a survey in the middle of a change in duty status tells me this company doesn't either understand or care that some drivers need every single minute.

4. Calling tech support is a waste of time, they expect you to sit on the phone with your truck running to debug their device.

5. Just one problem...Common passwords not allowed?? This isn't my bank or access to medical records, it's an ELD! I honestly don't understand the need for a password at all, but if I have to use one, I should be able to use one that is simple and easy to remember.

6. Keep asking if you have disconnected the device from the truck and saying to restart your tablet.

7. I'll try logging in again, but even though all my info is completely correct, it'll insist I have the wrong user name or password.

8. Nobody is going to be trying to crack my ELD app!We have been using this for close to 3 years now and I have never experienced any of the issues im reading about in other reviews.

9. Im a mover so I drive less, but the app clearly logs when im driving and when im on duty with no problems at all.

10. We need to be able to turn off the automatic status changes.

11. Like the app other than the auto status changing from off duty to on duty.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Geotab Drive Issues

1. Fix Geotab Drive Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Geotab Drive: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Geotab Drive App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Geotab Drive" » Open Geotab Drive » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Geotab Drive » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Geotab Drive app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Geotab Drive servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Geotab Drive" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Geotab Drive app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Geotab Drive might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Geotab Drive. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Geotab Drive then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Geotab Drive not working


2. Fix Geotab Drive Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Geotab Drive be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Geotab Drive not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Geotab Drive may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
