1. I am using this app for my fitness studio which transforms magically for Kickbox, Barre, Bellydance, Arial Yoga, Pilates & more! Perfection!This is an excellent Hue lights app with more light scenes than anyone else.

2. The developer has added a feature/fix i suggested and I must rate him five stars for his quick resolution.I like the animations but i only have it 4 stars because it doesn't let you use lifx who has the best animations of their strip lights and i was looking for an app that supports both.

3. Some of the positive reviews feel fake, so 1 star.While there are a lot of scenes, the developer is clearly greedy and wants you to do a monthly subscription kind of BS thing - umm, NO.

4. For something that runs locally and doesn't rely on external servers? Very sleazy.There are many free scenes to experience, as well as some paid ones.

5. Doesn't set lights back to previous settings when done so I have to manually configure the colour and brightness of every light again.

6. Developer responded right away and worked with me until it was resolved.Great app! Easy to set up & use and has plenty of scenes with different themes & seasonal moods.

7. Now some of the scenes either a) lose brightness for no obvious reason fast b) have very hard transitions between color to color.

8. Don't even bother with this one, move to the next.Really enjoy the scenes, color schemes and movements.

9. Also it does every single light on the network and immediately forgets if you manually select which lights you want.

10. I had an issue with annual subscription unlocking the scenes after payment.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Lighter Issues

1. Fix Lighter Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Lighter: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Lighter App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Lighter" » Open Lighter for Philips Hue Lights » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Lighter » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Lighter for Philips Hue Lights app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Lighter servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Lighter for Philips Hue Lights" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Lighter app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Lighter might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Lighter. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Lighter then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Lighter not working


2. Fix Lighter Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Lighter be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Lighter not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Lighter may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
