Hue Switcher Customer Insights

1. Big issue I had was that when you select your 'lava' otherwise known as Scene, and you press the home button on your phone to do other things or sit back and watch movie, the lights just Pause Colour? I dont want this to be open on my screen all the time to use the effects.

2. I love being able to set my lights into colorful motion & I really like being able to sync the color patterns, or have them all doing their own thing.

3. The music options are fun to use whether we are entertaining, hanging around the house, playing name that Disney character (from color of light combo), or leaving them on while ww are out during the pm (we have lights in all front facing rooms-- for this very reason!) free version.

4. Honor 9 Lite - latest Android software.Best app I have found for choosing a light group, choosing a colour palette, and then cycling all the lights through that colour palette either in sync or independently.

5. Does not sync with Spotify but instead uses the microphone on phone to listen then adjusts lights to sound.

6. For example, if you want to turn off a scene, to multiple lights, enjoy the journey you are about to go on.

7. I haven't gotten too much further than being able to set my lights into motion, because everything else is too confusing.

8. Maybe one day I'll take the time to learn, but until then, I'll just enjoy my waterfall of colors!This app is by far the best option for smooth color transitions during lava lamp mode that I have come across.

9. It is slightly inconvenient to sync this way but it is a worthwhile price to pay for the quality of this app.I've been using this app for a number of years and finally decided to leave a review.

10. Additionally it'd be better if it could be used from two devices because as soon as you leave home with your phone, the lava stops so basically you have to run the app on a dedicated android device that's always at home.

11. Don't yet see the need for the Rooms in this UI.i do not often write reviews and i have 6 hue apps on my phone, all of which basically do the same exact thing.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Hue Switcher Issues

1. Fix Hue Switcher Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Hue Switcher: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Hue Switcher App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Hue Switcher" » Open Hue Switcher for Philips Hue B » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Hue Switcher » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Hue Switcher for Philips Hue B app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Hue Switcher servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Hue Switcher for Philips Hue B" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Hue Switcher app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Hue Switcher might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Hue Switcher. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Hue Switcher then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Hue Switcher not working


2. Fix Hue Switcher Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Hue Switcher be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Hue Switcher not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Hue Switcher may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
