Backup and Restore Customer Insights

1. When this happens you have to put a checkmark on the apps not backed and press the backup button BUT sometimes the Backup button does not active and therefore you can't back up the apk I set the number of backups to 2 but I found as many as 5 copies of the same app in the archive.Doesn't automatically back up apks even though it is correctly set to do so, I have to do it manually.

2. The app crashes when I try to connect my Google Drive account, and when I try to set the backup path, it just shows a blank screen with a confirm button at the bottom, but if I tap confirm, it gives an error saying the backup path is empty and with no way to set it.

3. This new version cannot find the previously backed up files, says I don't even have an SD card, and won't let me edit the location of the backup default folder so it will actually find them.

4. Regrettably, the program appears to be getting worse rather than better.there used to be a drop-down menu on the main interface that allowed me to backup my Samsung themes, which is the main reason why I use this app.

5. Clearly everything becomes junk sooner or later.Sms is not restoring In my new phone it shows "Set this app as default app for messaging" and in settings it does not shows in messaging apps list.

6. I have archived files (from the previous version) on my SD card and would like to revert to another apps older version.

11. If you like getting angry, this app is for you 👎Google Drive issue still broken in v6.0.8. This latest version was said to have fixed this issue yet for me it still exists.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Backup and Restore Issues

1. Fix Backup and Restore Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Backup and Restore: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Backup and Restore App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Backup and Restore" » Open Backup and Restore - APP » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Backup and Restore » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Backup and Restore - APP app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Backup and Restore servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Backup and Restore - APP" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Backup and Restore app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Backup and Restore might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Backup and Restore. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Backup and Restore then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Backup and Restore not working


2. Fix Backup and Restore Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Backup and Restore be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Backup and Restore not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Backup and Restore may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
