1. I want to love this app, it has asimple system for review and marking cards you need to come back to, but despise the 6 second animation where you can't hit any buttons after checking your answer.

2. Other than that its a great companion to the Genki books and ive learned 100+ kanji in under 2 monthsUnfortunately it is just a kanji list, with yes/no/unsure buttons to let the user self assess their own ability.

3. You need to add a feature that turns off the answers in check mode, you have the answer written at the bottom which makes check mode pointless.

4. Please let us hit the buttons during the animation - or just don't have an animation, just flip the card when requested.Dear creator.

5. Also when i click on the Tomodachi reading on the reverse side of the card it crashes everytime.

6. Some simple math tells me that's over 4 hours of waiting for an animation to end.

7. I was hoping for a quiz feature that would help me learn.I cannot use the app at all.

8. When I opened up the app, there is a notice with some words stating that the app isn't Google authenticated.

9. In other words, the app is useless.

10. But there are paragraphs in the book for practice reading.

11. There are 1300 cards in this app, and each of them has two settings (J -> E and E -> J).

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix GENKI Kanji Cards Issues

1. Fix GENKI Kanji Cards Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart GENKI Kanji Cards: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the GENKI Kanji Cards App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "GENKI Kanji Cards" » Open GENKI Kanji Cards for 2nd Ed. » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for GENKI Kanji Cards » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear GENKI Kanji Cards for 2nd Ed. app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from GENKI Kanji Cards servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "GENKI Kanji Cards for 2nd Ed." » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check GENKI Kanji Cards app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, GENKI Kanji Cards might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall GENKI Kanji Cards. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall GENKI Kanji Cards then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing GENKI Kanji Cards not working


2. Fix GENKI Kanji Cards Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make GENKI Kanji Cards be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to GENKI Kanji Cards not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, GENKI Kanji Cards may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
