MIDI Scope Customer Insights

1. Within seconds I discovered the Active Sensing message is the culprit due to the early implementation of the midi spec!It does what's advertised but it's kinda useless with my Yamaha P-45 because of never-ending "TimingClock()" messages.

2. I use it most to check my controler cc messages are assigned to the correct values and channels. This application helped me diagnose what appeared to be a problem with my new irig midi 2 device as it had a permanently flashing midi in light when connecting either of my aging keyboards to my smartphone or ipad.

3. I don't see a way to ignore or filter out the clock messages so its not useful for my purposes. This app doesn't show any Bluetooth midi devices.

4. The scope seems to show midi messages, but the display gets swamped with clock messages.

5. Suspecting that a message probably was being persistently sent I searched for a midi message logger and after a couple of duff apps, I came across this one.

6. It's now very easy to diagnose any issues I experience with just a quick look at the midi messages.

7. A useful window into the workings of my midi setup.

8. So whenever I actually do something on the piano, the corresponding message leaves the screen in just 0.4 seconds.

9. And a copy/save function for the log.Connected to a yamaha dtx-502.

10. It has no help files or useful instructions.

11. It was useless.Works fine with Roland FP-10.
