1. That said, the audio quality with the speakers is great, and at a far cheaper cost than simulator wifi systems.I bought an expensive receiver with Play fi several years back.

2. When it's working I love it because of the lossless audio I get via amazon music! I've checked my phone, internet connections on multiple times and they are good.

3. After latest android update app will only stay connected to speakers if the phone is unlocked, otherwise stops streaming about 3 minutes after phone locks.

4. Now with this new update it refuses to recognize my NAS server, and also the music listed on my phone for some reason does not have a Playlist option.

5. Often music will only play out of the left channel even though the right channel is connected to the router.

6. favorite internet music sources no longer supported: Format not supported.Latest upgrade has made my system unusable.

7. Their support tries to help, but I've had issues for over a year and I still cannot stream music still.

8. Having to use the app to play music and only being able to play what's available through the app is not exactly what I was looking for.

9. Worst app I have ever used! Endless fiddling to get music to play.

10. Connections get dropped randomly, speakers will just disappear then reappear without any warning or pattern, and the app will crash from time to time while updating my Definitive Tech speakers.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix DTS Play-Fi Issues

1. Fix DTS Play-Fi Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart DTS Play-Fi: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the DTS Play-Fi App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "DTS Play-Fi" » Open DTS Play-Fi™ » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for DTS Play-Fi » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear DTS Play-Fi™ app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from DTS Play-Fi servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "DTS Play-Fi™" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check DTS Play-Fi app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, DTS Play-Fi might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall DTS Play-Fi. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall DTS Play-Fi then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing DTS Play-Fi not working


2. Fix DTS Play-Fi Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make DTS Play-Fi be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to DTS Play-Fi not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, DTS Play-Fi may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
