Control4 Customer Insights

1. Android/Apple compatibleNever had any daily problems however the entire system has to be rebooted 1-2 times a year when something gets stuck or from an untimely update that jams things up.

2. Icons are better looking and rooms can be favorited for easy access.8/24/22 Update: Doesn't work on Fold4 either!!! Would give 5 stars, but after much troubleshooting, app doesn't work correctly on Samsung Fold3.

3. Not sure if an update was applied in the backend, or automatically, but all is well again.Love the new look!! Added lots of new features and information content while still keeping a clean simple look...Well done...Looking forward to selling and upgrading future systems.

4. One thing that many people dont understand is, if you don't have an above average network in your house, Control4 WILL NOT WORK WELL.This app will take forever to load in that scenario and do tasks.

5. It does not properly update status for light bulbs, so it lies and indicates that lights are left on when they are not, and off when on.

6. I still have my Fold2, and it works correctly on that model.Great system and been a user for 2 years.

7. If the app doesn't work for you, it's your system setup or hardware; not the app.

8. I hope this changes and you give more control to the users who payed for the system and want the responsibility.

9. When Fold is opened, the large internal screen does not show intercom.

10. In order to install, must do so on smaller external screen, in order to see permission prompts (camera, mic, etc).

11. The fact that they invest so much in updates is comforting to know and a sign of a well run company.Last update broke it.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Control4 Issues

1. Fix Control4 Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Control4: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Control4 App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Control4" » Open Control4 for OS 3 » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Control4 » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Control4 for OS 3 app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Control4 servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Control4 for OS 3" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Control4 app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Control4 might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Control4. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Control4 then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Control4 not working


2. Fix Control4 Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Control4 be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Control4 not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Control4 may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
