YI Life Customer Insights

1. Only thing is Yi Home doesn't allow view of four cameras at the same time unless subscribed to cloud.I thought this was going to replace the Yi Home app but I have both of them now.

2. It used to be really good home security system but since the upgrades you have to tap 2 or 3 times for it to load, it doesn't pick movement when it should, I paid for a 12 month subscription, only got 6 and they won't reinstate the cloud service.

3. You can also group cameras and other smart devices for better experience and send google voice command to turn on / off camera.

4. Have started with one webcam and now added another 3 more as the cloud subscription allowed up to 4 cameras max per subscription.I have the old app and this new app both installed, but I still go back to the old.

5. It does crash sometimes when i want to open the app when i got an alert but once i close and re-open the app again it's fineI regret buying 10 cameras after I tried Mijia 360 2K Pro.

6. I am so close to leaving.Removed paid features that came with cameras and forcing users to pay a subscription to get them back.

7. It seems like this new app always experiences issues when accessing the cameras - both the live and cloud feeds.

8. Yi Home app doesn't have this software issue, and it works for records up to a week old, and not using cloud service.

9. My previous camera and regrettably the more expensive one from another known brand turned out to be utter trash.

10. I bought my cameras 5 years ago and had smart detection all this time.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix YI Life Issues

1. Fix YI Life Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart YI Life: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the YI Life App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "YI Life" » Open YI Life » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for YI Life » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear YI Life app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from YI Life servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "YI Life" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check YI Life app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, YI Life might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall YI Life. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall YI Life then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing YI Life not working


2. Fix YI Life Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make YI Life be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to YI Life not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, YI Life may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
