Then app closed 2 times when I tried to leave feedbackI don't know what was going on, I don't use this app & it's been a few years since I've ridden a NYC Ferry, so I just uninstalled, but recently I started noticing that when following links from other apps (definitely noticed with Twitter), a message would pop up in my default browser (Duck Duck Go) saying "You can open this link in NYC Ferry", with a link to do so.

This gets a 1 star rating because local storage shouldn't break if internet is not on.Solid app though a few features could be better, for instance buy tickets and use tickets are alternatively available from the landing screen (you should be able to see both) and you can set a favorite stop but not a specific line from that stop.Horrible experience.

3. I don't know why NYC Ferry would be registered as an alternative app to open random webpages in, but it stopped after uninstallingThe app is in nightmare it will randomly just stopped working when you attempt to purchase more tickets the screen is blank.

4. Need to fix glitch.I applied for the discounted senior fare in early May, and after being approved and informed my app had been updated almost a month ago, I still do not have the option to purchase discounted tickets.

5. Keeps looping between asking for email then sending you email with link to open the app and access your account.

6. When I receive the email authentication link, the app does not proceed past the welcome screen with a loading circle.

7. Now every time an App on my phone requires the Google browser, such as the Weather App, it displays the NYC Ferry checkout page.

8. You can turn on local storage, but the issue still persists upon trying to "use" the tickets.

9. I've lost access to tickets that I paid for and cannot use.As described below.

10. I contacted NYC Ferry and Highblower with screen shots but no feedback, just a ticket number.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix NYC Ferry Issues

1. Fix NYC Ferry Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart NYC Ferry: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the NYC Ferry App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "NYC Ferry" » Open NYC Ferry » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for NYC Ferry » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear NYC Ferry app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from NYC Ferry servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "NYC Ferry" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check NYC Ferry app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, NYC Ferry might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall NYC Ferry. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall NYC Ferry then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing NYC Ferry not working


2. Fix NYC Ferry Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make NYC Ferry be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to NYC Ferry not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, NYC Ferry may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
