1. The most counterintuitive part is that this app generates the digital equivalent of an official certified document, so you need to rescan your My Number card (and passport, for international certificates) when you get a booster.
2. Was able to use this on my old iPhone and later on did the same thing to my Nothing phone when I had to change phones.Registration was easy, using My Number card and my passport.
3. I downloaded this app after most of the initial problems with middle names and foreign passports had been sorted out.The initial version of the app has a problem confusing the letter L and the digit 1 in passport numbers.
4. Update needed! Luckily my passport number is unaffected and I could use the app with my EU passport and my MyNumber card.
5. No issues. As many other people before, i had the problem that the app doesn't scan my foreign passport.
6. You just need your My number card and your passport.

8. The app recognizes any foreign passport just fine, as long as the passport number is 9 characters.
9. You'll need a proper My Number card with your photo and an IC chip that you can get from your local city/ward hall, the green paper notification card isn't enough.
10. The FAQ states that it works with non-Japanese passports, and eventually I did get my USA passport to scan but it took several tries.
11. Try backing it away from the camera and using plenty of ambient light. So the developers *finally* got around to fixing the passport reading issue.
