My Viasat Customer Insights

1. All customer service tells the customer is that Viasat made it clear in the contract that they are not responsible for bad wifi performance and the customer has no recourse.

2. It glitches out all the time and won't load, always tells me my modem isn't working even when it is, and I'm not impressed.Horrible horrible service.

3. Said the app was imperfect....Horrible!! The app and service is horrible!! My son can't play xbox, we can't watch a movie, the only thing it's good for is our phones.

4. Disappointed because I rely on it to keep up with usage.The only thing this app is good for is checking how much data you've used and paying the bill.

5. How can you have one device use 35% of a weekly total, and all the rest are 0%? The TOTAL is 100%!! Where did the rest go?? Plus, it shows all the devices connected to the router, most of which don't draw any satellite stream.

6. It showed me the WiFi tab at the bottom and I was able to see a few percentage use figures for connected devices, then it crashed, I got a white and totally unresponsive screen.

7. We have the biggest package they offer....our wifi never works and the only answer they gave us was that we should all do factory resets on our devices to see if that would help.

8. My Cricket phones hotspot is faster than viasat.We've been with Viasat a long time (and the providers they bought out).

9. The fourth time, crashWorst wifi service.

10. Will switch to another service provider as soon as one becomes available.Update: still having issues.

11. The app is complete garbage, it says we have 8 devices connected, when there isn't, the data is always wrong, it just sucks completely.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix My Viasat Issues

1. Fix My Viasat Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart My Viasat: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the My Viasat App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "My Viasat" » Open My Viasat » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for My Viasat » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear My Viasat app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from My Viasat servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "My Viasat" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check My Viasat app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, My Viasat might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall My Viasat. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall My Viasat then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing My Viasat not working


2. Fix My Viasat Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make My Viasat be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to My Viasat not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, My Viasat may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
