1. There was a time where I used Ava for my medical visits and it worked pretty good but now it doesn't seem to work at all.I originally gave Ava 3 stars because I didnt have a great experience while trying it out.

2. I have used the app to communicate with hearing strangers in informal settings and it has been great.I seriously can't figure this thing out.

3. We have been using this app for several years now on several Android phones as a solution for our deaf mother.

4. Most of the words are wrong and it doesn't translate a southern accent well at all.Great app for us latened deaf.

5. I don't get how to see different colors for different users, I don't understand joining a room I own on a tablet with my phone so I can speak into my phone and use the tablet as a communal screen.

7. The accuracy of the transcriptions could be better, and three app would be better with voice recognition as well so that the app transcribes your voice over stray voices in the area.No longer works.

8. It's not launching by itself to pick up voices, video, whatever sounds are coming from the phone or room.

9. Great and easy group conversations set-up, which live transcibe lacks.

10. In a bind with no wifi or data it can still be used (with less accuracy), which live trascribe cannot do.

11. ☹️ This issue happens on various phone brands (HTC One M9, a mix of Samsung, and One Plus 6).

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Ava Issues

1. Fix Ava Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Ava: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Ava App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Ava" » Open Ava: Transcriptions & Captions » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Ava » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Ava: Transcriptions & Captions app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Ava servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Ava: Transcriptions & Captions" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Ava app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Ava might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Ava. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Ava then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Ava not working


2. Fix Ava Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Ava be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Ava not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Ava may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
